If you haven't finished the quest for Birdie, you're missing five walnuts right there. It’s a long chain of trading items—starting with a War Memento and ending with a Pirate's Locket—that takes you back to the mainland to talk to Kent, Gus, and even Sandy.
Getting Started in the Eastern Jungle
When you first land, you’re stuck in the East. This is where Leo lives. It's the tutorial phase of walnut hunting.

The North: Volcano Dungeons and Dig Sites
The North is where things get sweaty. This is the home of the Volcano Dungeon.
You’re going to get a lot of nuts just by playing the game here. Breaking rocks, killing slimes, and opening chests in the Volcano can net you up to 17 walnuts. They’re random drops. If you’ve spent five days in the Volcano and haven't seen one in a while, you’ve probably capped out.
Don't forget the physical ones hidden in the terrain. There are two hidden bushes in the Volcano entrance map. One is tucked behind a tree on the left, and another requires you to use your watering can to make a path across the lava pool to the left side of the first floor. These are "limited" drops. Once you hit 5, you'll never get another one from that activity.
The Blue Birdies
There’s a weirdly shaped circle of grass near the farm. Dig in the middle.
There’s a path hidden behind a mahogany tree that leads to a secret grove.
There’s a walnut sitting on a cliff that looks unreachable. To get it, you actually have to enter the Volcano and use the watering can to go all the way to the right across the lava on the first floor. It leads to a secret exit.
The South: The Beach and the Pirates
The South is where you land, but there's a secret area to the right of the docks.
Wait for a rainy night. Or go there on an even-numbered day when it's not raining to find the Pirates in the cove.
- The Mermaid: On a rainy day, she’ll sit on a rock. You need to place Flute Blocks on the shore. The "song" is based on the number of stones in each pile. Adjust the pitch of the blocks (hit them 1, 11, 9, 5, and 7 times respectively) and then walk past them. 5 walnuts.
- Darts: When the pirates are in the cove, you can play darts. It’s a simple mini-game, but you can win up to 3 walnuts here.
