If you’re anything like me, you probably spent way too long wandering around the Faron region in Tears of the Kingdom looking for a place to actually register that horse you just found. The map is huge. Like, ridiculously huge. And while some stables feel like they’re right in your face, the totk highland stable location is tucked away just enough to be annoying if you don't know exactly where to look.
Honestly, it's one of those spots that feels familiar if you played Breath of the Wild, but the world has shifted. The vibes are different. There’s a giant hole in the ground nearby now, for one.
Where Exactly is the TotK Highland Stable Location?
Let’s get the dry stuff out of the way first so you can get back to the game. You’ll find the Highland Stable in the Faron Grasslands. If you’re looking at your map, head to the far south, basically dead center but slightly towards the west.
The exact coordinates you’re looking for are 0530, -3451, 0096.
It sits right on the Fural Plain. If you see Haran Lake, you’re close—the stable is just to the east of it. If you’ve managed to unlock the Utsushok Shrine, congratulations, you’ve basically arrived. The shrine is practically on top of the stable, making it the perfect fast-travel point for all your future horse-related needs.
How to Get There Without Dying
Getting there can be a bit of a trek depending on where you're starting.
- From Lookout Landing: It’s a long haul. You’ll want to head south through Hyrule Field, past the Great Plateau, and keep following the road south towards Lake Hylia.
- The Bridge of Hylia Path: Crossing the bridge is iconic, but watch out for the Flame Gleeok that likes to hang out there now. It’s a jerk. If you aren't ready for a boss fight, maybe skirt around the lake instead.
- The Faron Highroad: Once you’re south of the lake, follow the main road. It winds through the grasslands and eventually leads you right to the stable’s front door.
Why This Stable Actually Matters
You might think, "It’s just another stable, Link. Who cares?"
Well, you should care. This isn't just a place to sleep for 20 Rupees (or 40 if you want those extra hearts from a soft bed). The Highland Stable is a strategic hub for some of the coolest side content in the game.

The Giant White Stallion
First off, this is the staging ground for finding the Giant White Stallion. If you talk to the NPCs inside, specifically Padok, you'll hear rumors about a massive horse. In Tears of the Kingdom, this absolute unit of a horse is located just southeast of the stable, past the Horse God Bridge in the Lake of the Horse God area.
Pro tip: bring a lot of stamina food. Seriously. That horse doesn't want to be your friend. You'll need about two full wheels of stamina to break it, maybe more if you’re unlucky.
The "A Picture for Highland Stable" Quest
Every stable has a blank frame on the wall these days. It’s part of a world-wide interior decorating initiative, I guess. At Highland Stable, Padok wants a picture of that Giant White Stallion we just talked about.
Once you find the horse, snap a photo with your Purah Pad. Bring it back, and he’ll paint a replica for the wall. Your reward? A Pony Point and some recipe-boosting food. It’s not much, but if you’re a completionist, it’s a must-do.
The Obstacle Course
Blynne is still here. He’s the guy obsessed with horse racing. You can run his obstacle course to earn Pony Points. It’s a bit finicky—the physics in this game can be a blessing and a curse—but it’s a fun way to kill time and build up your stable rewards.
Surprising Details Most Players Overlook
Most people just grab the shrine and leave. Don't do that.
There’s a Hylian Retriever hanging out behind the stable. If you’re nice to it—meaning you drop about four or five pieces of meat or fruit—it’ll eventually lead you to a buried treasure chest. In this case, it’s a Silver Rupee. That’s a free 100 Rupees just for being a decent person to a digital dog.
Also, check the well.
The Highland Stable Well isn't just for decoration. Down there, you'll find some resources and, more importantly, a bit of lore and atmosphere that makes the world feel lived in. There are wells at almost every stable, and they are always worth the two seconds it takes to jump down.
What’s Nearby? (Landmarks to Watch For)
If you use the totk highland stable location as a base camp, you’re perfectly positioned for a few other excursions:
- The Horse God Bridge: To the east. It leads to where Malanya used to live. The Great Horse God has moved to Akkala in this game, but the area is still important.
- Faron Woods: To the north and east. Great for foraging Hearty Durians... oh wait, they removed those. Well, it's great for other stuff now, like Hearty Truffles and various Zonai ruins.
- Hills of Baumer Chasm: If you're feeling brave and want to head into the Depths, there’s a chasm to the north.
Is It Different from Breath of the Wild?
Structurally? No. The tent looks the same. The NPCs are mostly the same.
But the context is different. The world is more dangerous. The road from the north is frequently patrolled by Bokoblins on horseback. Perosa, one of the stable hands, will actually give you a quest called "The Horseback Hoodlums" to deal with them. It's a great way to practice your mounted combat, which, let's be honest, we all forget to use.

The stable also feels more "connected" because of the Pony Point system. Every time you visit a new stable or do a quest like the picture frame one, you get points you can trade for things like the Towing Harness or even better saddles and bridles.

- Activate the Utsushok Shrine immediately so you never have to make that long walk from Lake Hylia again.

Faron is a dense, vertical region with a lot of secrets hidden in the trees and the rain. Having this stable unlocked gives you a much-needed "safe zone" in a part of the map that can otherwise feel pretty overwhelming.
