Infinity Nikki Windrider Mill: What Most People Get Wrong

Infinity Nikki Windrider Mill: What Most People Get Wrong

You're floating high above the Abandoned District, your glider catching a stray updraft, and then you see it. The Windrider Mill. It's one of those spots in Infinity Nikki that looks absolutely stunning from a distance but feels like a giant, spinning headache the moment you actually try to set foot on it. Honestly, it's easily one of the most frustrating yet rewarding platforming sections in the early game. If you’ve spent twenty minutes trying to figure out why the Skypass won't turn on or where that one last Whimstar is hiding, you’ve come to the right place.

The thing about the Infinity Nikki Windrider Mill is that it isn't just one big tower. It’s a vertical puzzle. It’s a mess of stonetrees, rotating blades, and Pieceys who seem to have lost everything but their sense of humor. People get stuck here because the game doesn't hold your hand. It sort of just points at the sky and says, "Go up there, good luck."

Getting There Without Falling to Your Death

You can't just walk to the mill. I mean, you can try, but you'll just end up at the bottom of a very deep canyon. To even reach the Windrider Mill island, you first have to clear the Repair the Ripple Estate Skypass quest. Most players skip this because they're busy chasing cats or taking photos, but it's the literal gatekeeper.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to head to the Barrel Home Warp Spire. From there, you glide west. You’re looking for a specific stonetree with a vineyard that’s crawling with Esselings. Purify those creeps, talk to the Piecey named Shy Little Rosa, and she’ll point you toward Barry. This is where the real work begins.

Barry is a "Chatterbox," and he isn't kidding. He'll send you on a wild goose chase to find Gulpetta near the Ripple Wine Cellar. It’s a lot of back-and-forth, but once you get those three Pieceys back to the Stoneheart, the Skypass finally fires up. Now you can actually step onto the Windrider Mill proper.

The Ten Windmill Mystery

One of the first things you'll run into at the top is a traveling scholar named Aventura. He’s standing near the Windrider Mill Top Warp Spire looking all scholarly and pensive. He has a quiz for you. It’s a random quest called "Observation: Windrider Mill," and if you get it wrong, you don't get those 20 Diamonds.

He asks: "How many windmills are there near Windrider Mill?"

  • Seven? No.
  • Nine? Nope.
  • Ten. The answer is ten. Don't bother counting them yourself while dodging the wind gusts; just pick ten. Momo will act like you're a genius, Aventura will be impressed, and you'll be 20 Diamonds richer. It’s the easiest win in the Abandoned District.

Solving the Sunset and Best Friend Quest

This is the big one. If you want the Starlit Companions Sketch, you have to help a Piecey named Pajama PJ. You’ll find him stuck inside a squash house on the north end of the mill. Use your purification orb to clear the leaves, and he’ll pop out looking like he hasn't seen the sun in a century. Which, according to the lore, he hasn't.

This quest is a multi-step journey that involves:

  1. Visiting Diane at the mid-level of the stonetree to order a gift.
  2. Gathering Windblooms (they grow all over the east side of the plateau).
  3. Finding PJ at the base of the tree while he’s taking a bath (it's less weird than it sounds).
  4. Using the Violinist outfit to calm him down.

The trickiest part is the Silvergale Whistles. These are the instrument windmills. PJ wants you to play a song, but he only gives you a hint through lyrics. You have to hit the windmills with your Purification Orbs in a specific color order: Blue, Green, Yellow, Red. If you mess up the sequence, the music stops and you have to start over.

Once that's done, you have to meet PJ and his friend Bootie at the Market of Mirth between 17:00 and 21:00 in-game time. If you show up at noon, they won't be there. Use your Pear-Pal to skip time if you’re impatient.

Loot, Chests, and the "Pastoral" Trap

The Infinity Nikki Windrider Mill area is dense with loot. There is a specific cavern called the Windrider Mill Cavern hidden right by the creek's bank at the bottom of the central stonetree. It’s easy to miss because the entrance is so low. Inside, you'll find a Whim Balloon, a few Advanced Chests, and enough Dew of Firework to make the trip worth it.

Then there’s Frankie. He’s an NPC on the northeastern island who gives you a Kindled Inspiration quest called "Perfect Pair." He asks for a dress that matches the vibe. Specifically, you need to wear any dress with the "Pastoral" tag.

A lot of people think they need a specific high-tier gacha pull for this. You don't. The Fragrant Reverie dress works perfectly, and you can find that sketch in a chest near the Stylist’s Guild Memorial. Just put it on, stand in front of Frankie during the day (05:00-21:00), and collect your rewards.

Actionable Tips for 100% Completion

If you're aiming to clear every marker on the map for the Windrider Mill, keep these specific points in mind:

  • Check the Warp Spires: There are three main ones (Top, Mid-Level, and the base). If you’re missing a Whimstar, it’s usually floating between the Mid-Level and the Top—you'll need the Gliding or Floating ability outfits to reach the high-altitude ones.
  • The Hidden Cavern: Don't forget the Small Stonetree Cavern. It’s on that tiny isolated island between Ripple Estate and the Mill. You’ll find the Piecey "Tipsy Tom" there during certain random quests.
  • Collect Windblooms: Even if you’ve finished the PJ quest, keep a stack of Windblooms. They are a common crafting requirement for Abandoned District-themed dyes and accessories.
  • Camera Mode: Use the camera to scout. If you see a sparkling glow on a distant branch you can't reach, it's likely a Whimstar. Use the "shrink" ability if there’s a small gap in the tree roots; there’s often a primary chest hidden in those tight spaces.

Check your inventory for the Pearl Dots outfit sketch before you leave the area. You get it from the "Repair Ripple Estate Sky Pass" quest that leads you here. If you don't have it, you missed a conversation with one of the Pieceys back at the gliding station.
