About Brothers Complete Dog Food

Brothers Complete is independently owned and operated. After operating a pet store in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for years and learning the kinds of dog foods customers liked and didn’t like, the Brothers Complete family decided to start making their own dog food.

They set out to design the healthiest dog kibbles possible with the help of an animal nutritionist with over 30 years of experience in the dog food industry. It took four years in development and 10 years in production to produce Brothers Complete dog food.

Brothers Complete says that they use “human-grade” ingredients. Completely free of grain, potato, sweet potato, hormones, antibiotics, chemical preservatives, and sugar.

According to Brothers Complete, over 90 percent of the protein they use is species-appropriate, animal-sourced protein. Presumably, this leaves 10 percent plant protein. They also use enzymes, special prebiotics, and unique probiotics that are encapsulated to protect them from activating prematurely.

Nutrients and minerals are carefully calculated and balanced so they will provide optimum nutrition for your dog.

Company headquarters for Brothers Complete Dog Food are in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Sourcing And Manufacturing

Brothers Complete uses human-grade proteins and most ingredients are sourced from the United States. Brothers says that they source venison and lamb from Australia and New Zealand. This is not unusual for many dog food companies. Cassava root (for tapioca) is also imported because it is not grown in the U.S.

Their dog foods are grain-free, potato-free, and sweet potato-free.

The last information we have for Brothers Complete is that it was made by C.J. Foods, which is now Alphia. C.J. Foods will combine with American Nutrition in 2020 to form this pet food manufacturing giant. Chewy.com customer service reports that the foods are manufactured in Kansas.

According to Brothers, their food is made in small batches and placed in their warehouse at 60 degrees within two days of manufacture, ready to be shipped to retailers. This helps preserve the food’s freshness.

Recall History

We didn’t find any recalls for Brothers Complete dog foods since their creation.

BROTHERS COMPLETE GOAT MEAL & EGG FORMULA ADVANCED ALLERGY CARE HEALTHY WEIGHT CONTROL GRAIN-FREE DRY DOG FOOD

Product Info

  • Protein: 30% Min
  • Fat: 15% Min
  • Fiber: 4% Max
  • Moisture: 10% Max
Brothers Complete Goat Meal & Egg Formula Advanced Allergy Care Healthy Weight Control Grain-Free Dry Dog Food is formulated as both an allergy care food and as a weight control dog food. This is an all life stage food. Made in the USA.

Here are the ingredients in this formula:

Goat Meal, Whole Eggs Dried, Turkey Meal, Cassava/Tapioca, Peas, Pea Starch, Chicken Fat (Preserved With Mixed Tocopherols), Chicken Liver Dried, Pumpkin, Ground Flaxseed, Alfalfa Meal, Dried Carrots, Potassium Chloride, Sea Salt, Choline Chloride 50%, Whole Cell Algae Dried (Pure Source Of Omega 3 Dha), Mixed Tocopherals (A Source Of Vitamin E), Rosemary Extract, Green Tea Extract, Encapsulated Probiotics (Dried Enterococcus Faecium, Lactobacillus Acidophilus And Lactobacillus Casei Fermentration Products), Digestive Enzymes (Amylase, Protease, Lactase, Lipase, Cellulase & Hemicellulase), Selective Prebiotics (Organic, Long Chain Inulin), Celery, Beets, Parsley, Lettuce, Watercress, Spinach, Cranberries, Lysine Hcl, Dl-Methionine, Lecithin, Taurine, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, etc...

One customer on Chewy.com asks a very good question: “Can you explain how this is weight control with a standard 15% fat content?” This food also has 400 kcal/cup. The reply isn’t very convincing. “This formula is naturally a healthy way to maintain optimum weight because it's not filled with high glycemic Carbohydrates such as grain, potatoes and sweet potatoes.

It's high protein so it won't contribute to an overweight problem.” You can’t stuff dogs with protein and say a food is a weight control diet. This recipe has a higher fat percentage than many regular dog foods. That said, these are (mostly) good ingredients and this food would be suitable for most dogs as a regular dog food.

Goat meal is a novel protein for most dogs but the turkey meal is not if you are interested in a food for dogs with allergies. The food also contains chicken liver, in case your dog is allergic to chicken.

Peas and pea starch are the fifth and sixth ingredients.

Brothers Complete Goat Meal & Egg Formula Advanced Allergy Care Healthy Weight Control Grain-Free Dry Dog Food has 33.3 percent protein and 16.7 percent fat, according to the dry matter basis (DMB). It has 4.4 percent fiber. Our estimate of the carbohydrates in the food came out to about 36.1 percent DMB. It contains 400 kcals/cup.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars.
